Season’s Greetings from Investors in Families

With just days to go until we can turn our attention to our own families,  and relax (relax?) and settle down for a quiet Christmas, here are our thanks to all the schools and other settings working with families to improve outcomes for children.

In 2017 we will welcome all of our member school back with the launch of our Investors in Families Library of Effective Practice – soon to be the biggest resource of its type on the planet.

We’ll be in touch early in 2017, but until then, have a festive family time.

Investors in Families seminar in Cardiff on 16th November

The seminar in Cardiff attracted 50 delegates from across Wales, pictured with the IIF certificates and plaques for schools gaining the quality mark in the last six months.

The key focus was on “Keeping learners safe” and co-incided with Child Protection Week.

Sue Davies (IIF) and Christine Jenkins (Bryntirion Comprehensive School) set out the guidance and how a primary and secondary school had implemented the policy.

Stephen Gear from Department for Education was able to update the delegates on the current situation in government.

Investors in Families seminar in Mold on 22nd November

We are holding our Autumn seminar on 22nd November 2016 in Mold. (Venue to be confirmed.)

The focus will be on how schools can engage with families and work with them to keep learners safe.

There will be a keynote speaker plus plenty of opportunity to network over a free lunch.

We will also set out the new IIF offer to schools and will formally launch the library of effective practice.

There will also be a presentation to schools in Flintshre that have recently gained the quality mark.

Full details will be sent to schools in Flintshire with a registration form shortly.

Glamorgan County Cricket Club awarded the IIF quality mark

Glamorgan County Cricket Club have achieved the IIF Quality Mark for their work with families. The club runs a huge programme of “Cricket in the Community” activities that are detailed on its website.

IIF is proud to welcome Glamorgan as a member of IIF. We will continue to work with Mark Frost and Andrew Hignell to develop cricket in the community and their work with families.

Glamorgan will host IIF seminars and conferences, which will offer delegates a chance to see the Swalec stadium and visit the Cricket Museum.

Working with families to improve outcomes: annual conference 21st March 2017

The IIF annual conference will take place at the Swalec Stadium in Cardiff on Tuesday 21st March 2017.

We are currently putting the programme for the day together, which will be a mixture of

  • keynote speeches
  • panel sessions
  • workshops demonstrating effective practice
  • an exhibition area

Member schools will each receive one free place and other places at half-price.

IIF ready for the new school year

Over the summer, we have been busy getting IIF ready for the new school year.

Our library of effective practice will be launched later this month for registered schools. It will be a fully searchable  database of case studies of effective practice developed by schools and other settings across Wales: watch this space.

We are also planning our Autumn 2016 seminar in Cardiff, which will be held after half-term at SWALEC, home of Glamorgan County Cricket Club.
